Stacey's Skincare Journey

I have struggled with acne on and off since my very early teens. After going down several different avenues including courses of antibiotics, topical treatments and hormonal medications. Things started to even out for me as I got older. By the time I reached 18, my skin has generally cleared up. I still had the odd breakout here and there but this was manageable and I was finally happy with my skin.

Fast forward 10 years and after I had my second child, my skin was not happy. I continued to suffer from hormonal breakouts all across my jawline and chin, moving down to my neck area. I tried countless products, all designed for exfoliation and not sticking to them long enough to see any work. I just wanted them gone.

Not only did I have acne returning across my face, but I also have some super sensitive areas that I needed to be mindful of. With the inconsistency of my routine and using stripping products to try and minimise the oil production of my skin, my skin barrier was completely broken down. So I was in a terrible cycle of constantly trying to target my acne and then repeatedly destroying my skin barrier, leading to a long road of disappointment. My devoted interest and passion is skincare and I couldn’t even manage my own. It’s safe to say I was very down about my skin, skin conditions certainly should not be taken lightly and given the attention they deserve.

I decided it was time to change up my skincare and stick to a set routine that I would consistently adhere to. I started using cosmeceutical grade products designed for acne and blemish-prone skin, all whilst remembering the areas I needed to be careful around (for me this was my upper lip and eye area). I opted for a clarifying cleanser that has 2% salicylic acid in it, which I used twice daily. I then added vitamin C in my morning routine and I cannot believe the difference in my skin, the brightness and texture definitely improved when using the C E Ferulic from Skinceuticals. Along with daily sunscreen and hydrating evening products, my skin slowly started to improve, and I was thrilled to start seeing results.

After my own experiences with targeting skin concerns, the most important takeaway I say to my clients is to give it your time and consistency with products and routine. We all want a quick fix of course but a steady and unswerving routine with the right products is key to optimum skin health.
