Slip Silk Pillowcase - Product Review

SLIP

I have used satin and part silk pillowcases in the past just to "try them out" as I was dubious as to how good a 100% silk pillowcase @ £85.00 could really be and how much of a difference it could actually make. So... Was it really as good as advertised? I was excited to put Slip Silk Pillowcase to the test...

The first thing that I noticed is just how soft and cooling it was. I imagine it would be perfect during the warm weather or for menopausal skin. Your skin glides across the pillowcase with every movement whereas with a regular cotton pillowcase your skin (as shown below) is pressed and squished into the material and ends up leaving extra lines on the complexion for you to deal with in the morning. Not only that, cotton is notorious for absorbing moisture - I'm talking about your expensive skincare routine here - whereas the absorption rate for silk is minimal to none. So not only is silk better for your skin but you are also getting better results from your regular skincare routine as your pillowcase isn't stealing half of it!

The morning after the 1st night, the immediate difference that I noticed was my hair! Whereas I might usually wake up with my thick, unruly hair everywhere, the silk pillowcase allowed my hair to stay pretty much in place with no frizz to be seen. After a few nights use, my skin just felt "better"! I can't describe why but it definitely did. I think it must have a combination of less friction, less dragging against the pillow throughout the night, increased moisture, and better performance from my skincare.

Slip is the market leader when it comes to silk pillowcases and contains a huge amount of silk. You might have thought that all silk pillowcases were the same however, Slip contains the highest grade of silk available - 22 momme to be precise - whereas other brands tend to only have 10-18 momme. This is important as it gives you an idea of how durable the silk is. The higher the momme silk weight, the thicker the fabric, the better the quality of the silk pillowcase.

The initial outlay of £85 can seem steep however, it's a great skin investment and compliments everything else. Slip boasts that their pillowcases have an incredible longevity of around 5 years (when looked after correctly) meaning that it would cost you less than £1 a night to reap all the incredible silk skin and hair benefits! With Slip Silk Pillowcase being highly recommended by hairstylists, dermatologists, beauty experts, and now having tried one for myself - I won't be without one now and it will be packed with me for any trips away... It's literally 8 hour of beauty sleep in an envelope!

Also, choosing the fit is easy. 'Queen Standard' will fit all standard UK pillowcases perfectly. I washed my Slip Silk Pillowcase weekly in a delicates bag on a gentle wash at 20/30 degrees.
