Guide to Skincare Ingredients

My Anti-aging Skincare Regime

When it comes to my skincare regime I am not scared of mixing brands.
I have no real concerns about my skin - just a few blackheads - but my main aim is the prevention of ageing.

AM
1/CLEANSE - Jan Marini Bioglycolic facial cleanser
I love this cleanser!
It contains glycolic acid which exfoliates the skin. There are so many benefits with exfoliation.
Primarily, exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin cells on the outer surface of the skin, which stimulates the growth of new elastic fibres & collagen.
These new cells are plumper, firmer and have more moisture. Newer skin underneath is revealed that has a healthy and radiant glow because it has not been exposed to the elements.
By exfoliating the top skin layers it also helps for better penetration of other treatments and skin products to get further into the skin so they can be more effective.
Most skin types need encouragement with exfoliation.
With oily skin, the oil tends to saturate the dead skin cells, which makes it difficult for these dead skin cells to fall naturally.
Dry skin tends to let dead skin cells accumulate too quickly, which can make skin look dry and dull.
Exfoliation will help remove blackheads, whiteheads and clogged pores, which can lead to acne.

2/PREVENT – Skinceuticals Phloretin C F
When it comes to antioxidant serums, Skinceuticals are the best.
This is a very important part of my regime because antioxidants are essential in the prevention of premature ageing and skin cancers.
Free radicals are natural by-products that can be triggered by pollutants, sunlight, stress, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
If left untreated, free radicals damage surrounding healthy cells, break down collagen, accelerate ageing and even contribute to skin cancer.
Antioxidants help neutralise free radicals, lighten skin, stimulate collagen and are anti-inflammatory.
And over time, they visibly improve skin clarity, tone and texture and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving skin with a firmer, smoother, younger-looking appearance.

3/ SUNSCREEN - SkinMedica TNS Ultimate Daily Moisturiser SPF 20
The sun and its harmful effects can be one of the most damaging elements our skin has to face. Not only does this lead to the formation of lines, wrinkles, and discolouration – it can lead to more serious skin conditions, including skin cancer. The best beauty tip anyone can ever give you is to wear an SPF sunscreen every day, even when it is grey and cloudy outside as the damaging UVA and UVB rays can penetrate cloud and glass.
The reason I use SkinMedica TNS Ultimate Daily Moisturiser SPF 20 is that it contains growth factors. When applied topically to ageing skin, they can speed cell turnover, increase skin thickness, and restore luminosity. Natural growth factors like TGF can stimulate stem cells in damaged areas to reproduce and provide the necessary boost to repair the damaged cells, which results in new tissue and a decrease in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
I plan to increase my use of growth factor products by introducing the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex Cream after my antioxidant serum.

PM
1/CLEANSE - Jan Marini Bioglycolic facial cleanser

2/ RESURFACE - Jan Marini Bioglycolic Bioclear Lotion
It has remarkable skin resurfacing and anti-ageing properties. Bioclear is an exceptional solution to common skin concerns such as wrinkles, fine lines, acne and acne scarring, large follicles, texture changes and rosacea. Contains - 12% Glycolic acid, 2% Salicylic acid and 2% Azelaic acid.

3/MOISTURISE - NEOVA Creme De La Copper by ProCyte
I have only just started using the copper peptide moisturiser. Previously, I was using Priori Idebenone Complex Superceuticals Moisturising Cream, which I love.
However, I wanted to try a copper peptide product as copper is a powerful collagen and elastin provider and it firms and increases the density of the skin.
I will let you know what I think of it!

MY WEEKLY TREATMENT:
Once a week I either apply a Dermaceutic glycolic mask or perform a Dermanew microdermabrasion treatment.
